decision fatigue

/dɪˈsɪʒən fəˌtig/
IPA guide

Decision fatigue occurs when people are so tired of making choice after choice after choice that they just can't choose one more thing. If you're struggling to pick what socks to wear today, you may be experiencing decision fatigue.

Many people experience decision fatigue, the emotional and mental exhaustion that comes from having to make too many decisions. Our brains only have so much decision-making capacity. Some decisions might be big, like what project to do for the science fair; others are small, like which color pen to use when taking notes. But all those decisions add up. Once decision fatigue sets in, it's really difficult or even impossible to make decisions about even minor things, like which cup to use for tea!
